maximios May 11, 2021

Microsoft has release Microsoft Whiteboard (Preview) app to Windows 10 and Windows 10 Team, this means that now you can collaborate with other users in your organisation from the Microsoft Whiteboard app across Windows 10 devices and SurfaceHub.

In this blogpost I will cover how to deploy Microsoft Whiteboard app from Microsoft Store for Business with Intune to Windows 10 devices.

Prereq:

  • Working Microsoft Intune
  • Windows 10 AzureAD joined devices
  • Microsoft Store for Business
  • Microsoft Store for Business integrated with Intune

First sign in to Microsoft Store for business https://businessstore.microsoft.com/en-us/store find Microsoft Whiteboard (Preview) app

Direct Link: https://businessstore.microsoft.com/en-us/store/details/microsoft-whiteboard-preview/9mspc6mp8fm4

Click “Get the app”

Start the Intune admin portal https://aka.ms/Intuneconsole

  1. Click Mobile apps
  2. Click Microsoft Store for Business
  3. Click sync (Or wait for the next sync – MSfB is syncing with Intune every 12 hours)

After the sync is done find Microsoft Whiteboard (Preview) app and click on it.

Go to the assignment tab, find the user groups you what to have access to the app.

select Type = Available

License Type = User licensing

After the next sync on a Windows 10 device the app is available in Company Portal

Note: Available apps are only in Company Portal for the user who originally enrolled the device. No other users can access the app.

Now for the end user experience:

Start Company Portal – after a sync the new app is in the list.

Click on Microsoft Whiteboard

Click Install

After the app is installed on the device start it.

Click sign in

Select your Work or school account

Then your users are ready to collaborate in the Whiteboard app across Windows 10 devices and SurefaceHub

If your users are getting a error:

Your admin has disabled sign in for Whiteboard. Please contact your admin to be able to sign in.

If you are getting this message it is because your Office 365 admin has not allows the Whiteboard app in your tenant.

To enable the Whiteboard app go to the Office 365 admin center : https://portal.office.com/adminportal/home

Click settings – Service & add-ins

Go to Whiteboard

Select On and save.

Now it is enabled for use in your Office 365 tenant.
